Tattoo Aftercare
- Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo for any reason; EVERYTIME!
- Remove bandage after 1-2 hours. Wash carefully with mild anti-bacterial soap and water. Pat dry with a paper towel. DO NOT WIPE WITH A TOWEL!!!
- DO NOT RE-BANDAGE!!!
- Apply a very thin coat of A&D ointment and rub it in gently, but well. Wash the tattoo and apply the ointment 2-3 times a day for the first 3 days. Then switch to a mild hand lotion and apply it the same way for the next 7-10 days. Original Nivea or Vaseline Intense Care Lotion works well. USE THESE LOTIONS SPARINGLY!
- Avoid any lotion with perfumes, dyes, or additives; especially ALOE or Vitamin E
- Sometimes ointments and lotions will clog your pores causing small pimples or red bumps similar to heat rash around the tattoo. Discontinue using ointment/lotion if any of these appear and let the tattoo dry heal. The pimples will usually clear up in a few days.
- Absolutely NO sunbathing, swimming, soaking, or exercising the area until the healing process is complete. (At least 2 weeks to a month.)
- Do not wear anything tight or binding.
- Do not pick or scratch at the tattoo while it is healing. If you do you will pull the color directly out of your tattoo.
- After it is healed, use sunblock when you are outdoors to prevent fading.
